The Apopka Serves Foundation Board of Directors is proud to announce the presentation of a prestigious Cultural Wellness Scholarship and the delivery of custom in-ear monitors (IEMs) for a talented local teen rock band, DRIVEN, as part of their mission to advance young entrepreneurs and cultural wellness through the arts.
This scholarship was made possible through Jerry Harvey Audio (JH Audio) and awarded to DRIVEN. The band is composed of Jaynee Phelps on lead vocals and rhythm guitar (Apopka), Kiersten Garretson on drums (Deland), Shoncea Rivera on bass guitar and backup vocals (Sanford), and Jake Nichols on lead guitar and backup vocals (Davenport).
DRIVEN band members met with the JH Audio team at their Orlando headquarters for in-ear impressions, product demos, and a tour of the production facilities on February 14, and began the custom, in-ear process. Today they tested and picked up their custom fit monitors. “The sound and fit are absolutely amazing, and we cannot wait to perform!” Jaynee Phelps, lead vocals for DRIVEN shared.
Apopka High School Senior, Jaynee Phelps, was recognized by the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce as the 2023 Young Entrepreneur of the Year in December 2023. DRIVEN was chosen for this Cultural Wellness scholarship opportunity based on their local community participation with multiple organizations, musical talent, and their professional acumen as musical artists. This scholarship not only acknowledges their musical achievements, but also serves as a testament to their potential as emerging artists. Part of the Apopka Serves Foundation’s mission is to encourage and empower entrepreneurs, entertainers, and artists. JH Audio believes in nurturing and supporting promising musicians in their artistic endeavors.
This scholarship marks a significant milestone in DRIVEN’s musical journey and promises to be a celebration of their talent and dedication.
