Apopka Hands in Action

Apopka Hands in Action is designed to put action to words to build our community. It is made up of a group of individuals working together to improve the community around us.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
Nelson Mandela
Restoring Hope at Home
When a local church reached out about an Apopka grandmother raising several grandchildren on her own, we knew we had to help. Her home was in severe disrepair—she had only one working water source and no safe space for her family. The Apopka Serves Foundation stepped in to fully renovate the home, providing new flooring, a water heater, doors, a complete kitchen including brand new appliances, and a new bathroom. While the work was being done, we also ensured she and her grandchildren were comfortably housed at a local hotel.
This project is a powerful reminder of why we serve: to bring dignity, safety, and hope to families in need right here in our community.
Serving Our Veterans
When a veteran’s trailer fell into disrepair due to water damage, our volunteers stepped in to repair her home at no cost to her. With the help of our supporters, we’re able to give back to those who have given so much.

Supporting Our Student Athletes
Apopka Serves Foundation is proud to partner with local businesses to make events like Spirit Night possible. Together, we helped raise funds for the Wekiva High School Girls and Apopka High School Girls Softball Teams. Supporting high school students in sports is about more than the game—it builds character, teamwork, and resilience while giving teens a positive outlet. We’re committed to investing in the next generation both on and off the field.
Celebrating Service

We are proud to share that our board member and dedicated volunteer, Ella Duke, was honored by Orange County Public Schools with the prestigious Crystal Award—the highest recognition the county gives to volunteers. This award is especially meaningful because recipients are nominated directly by teachers and students who witness the impact of their service. Only one volunteer per school is selected each year, making this an incredible honor. Ella’s recognition reflects not only her personal commitment, but also the mission of 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐤𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to make a lasting difference in the lives of students and families in our community.
Making Christmas Bright
Our amazing volunteers came together to host Breakfast with Santa for 150 at-risk teens from Apopka and Wekiva High Schools. These young people are often overlooked because of their age, yet they need our support the most as they begin making life-shaping decisions. At Apopka Serves Foundation, we’re committed to being the bridge between childhood and adulthood, offering mentorship, encouragement, and community to kids who need it most.
Pedal for a Cause benefiting Bully Up Rescue and Lighthouse Leaders
Apopka Serves Foundation’s Pedal for a Cause event was a tremendous success, bringing together cyclists, donors, and sponsors to support two incredible organizations. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we raised over $6,000, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Bully Up Rescue and Lighthouse Leaders.
